How to make sample preparation of semi-solids reliable?

Semi-solids, such as suspensions, creams, lotions, pastes, and gels, can pose problems to analytical method developers and analysts. Automating the required preparation steps with an APW workstation overcomes typical problems of manual preparation.

Semi-solids are often difficult to prepare for analysis. They can be sticky, viscous or unstable, which can make weighing, extraction, filtration, dilution and transfer more difficult. By automating the entire sample preparation process, more reliable, comparable and traceable analytical results can be achieved. In addition, time and resources are saved: the automated method requires only about 30% of the time needed for manual methods and uses only 20% of the solvent.
