The foundation of SOTAX AG in Basel, Switzerland.

1973 marked the start of SOTAX's success story with the transformation of the company 'Reinhard Benz Feinmechanik' into SOTAX AG. Up until that point, SOTAX was only the brand name for our product line of high-current contacts for the energy industry.

In addition to the contact business, SOTAX AG turned the contract work of producing prototypes for testing drugs into a separate business field. 'Apparatus Engineering' was still in its infancy, but the decision to enter the Pharma industry with own products was made: SOTAX started with only two instruments: the world's first flow-through dissolution apparatus and a compact disintegration tester for tablets & capsules.
